Canon SD750 LCD Screen Dust Removal

I’m not a big fan of cover/case for anything small electronic stuff like Iphone and Digital Camera. I always like to have my Iphone in my pocket and same with my digital camera. You buy a sexy looking gadget and then you hide it inside a case and that’s where it reside for the rest of its life with you…. Boring… I find cover/case tends to trap dirt in between and actually damage the product more.

With that said, I keep my camera in my jean pocket all the time when I’m out and over a year or so dust got underneath the screen. Very annoying. So today, I finally went to work to remove the dust. It wasn’t very hard.

Here’re instructions on how you can remove the back cover and clean the screen on the Canon SD750.

1) You will need the camera, one of the tiny phillips screw driver from a computer screw driver set, and a microfiber cloth.

1

2) Start with the bottom, there are 2 screws there — one black and one white one. Take out the black screw on the black part of the back cover.

2

3) Turn to the right side, take out the 2 black screws next to the little handle. Set these screws aside and keep them away from the first screw you took out. They’re not the same size and will give you a headache when you realize you put the bottom black screw into one of these side hole when you put everything back together!!! (I learned it the hard way)

4) Take the 2 white screws next to the speaker on the right side off.

5) You should have taken 5 screws out now and the back cover is ready to be pull out. Start with the side, and pull it slowly out, follow by the bottom and then finish with the top. The top have tiny little latch that lock it in place.

6) Here’s the camera LCD screen. Use a microfiber cloth to clean it out. You can also damp the MF to get some dust out and get the screen streak clean.

7) Make sure you got no dust on the screen and put everything back together. Make sure when you put the cover back you start with the top and get it in place before pushing the sides and bottom back in. Screw everything back.

There you have it! A clean screen with no dust :) . I’m sure the other Canon SD series probably have similar layout so you might be able to do the same with them.
